Letter from the President

Dear Fellow Students,  I hope your semester is going well and that you are thriving in the MUS program. My name is Adele Chase, and I'm honored to serve as the President of the Library and Information Science Students Association (LISSA) at USC. I'm happy to be reaching out to you today with the exciting news that LISSA is back!  LISSA was once an award-winning organization that supported USC MUS students preparing for careers in library and information science. Cocky's Reading Express Update

Did you know that USC has a literacy outreach initiative? Hop aboard Cocky's Reading Express™ for books, storytelling, and fun! Cocky's Reading Express™ travels to Title I elementary schools across the state, performing unforgettable storytimes alongside our Carolina mascot. We seek to increase access to free giveaway books and encourage a lifelong love of reading in every student we meet. Last semester we teamed up with the folks at Little Free Library to launch our new Adopt a School program. This program partners local businesses, student organizations, and individuals with South Carolina schools for a year of literacy service. Together, we can make literacy a community effort.    Would you like to stretch your storytelling muscles in front of a crowd of students? You do not have to be local to Columbia to participate - CRE travels across South Carolina, and you can meet us at the school closest to you! Email Margaret Cook (cookmh@email.sc.edu) for more information.
