Letter from the President

Dear Fellow Students,

I hope your semester is going well and that you are thriving in the MUS program. My name is Adele Chase, and I'm honored to serve as the President of the Library and Information Science Students Association (LISSA) at USC. I'm happy to be reaching out to you today with the exciting news that LISSA is back!

LISSA was once an award-winning organization that supported USC MUS students preparing for careers in library and information science. Although we have been on hiatus for the past few years, the Executive Board is excited to announce that we are back and planning informational, networking, and professional development activities. These activities are not just opportunities to enhance your skills but also platforms for you to contribute to shaping our field. With your participation, we hope to re-establish a strong student organization that reflects the diversity, excellence, and innovation of the School of Information Science.

Our mission is to create an inclusive and supportive environment where every voice is heard and valued. LISSA is not just an organization; it is a community and a platform for future library and information professionals to connect, learn, and grow together.

If you are interested in joining LISSA, please sign up here and plan on attending our upcoming social on February 23rd from 5-7pm at The Hangar. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact me at chaseal@email.sc.edu or visit our website for more information.

I am very excited at the prospect of working alongside such a talented and diverse group of individuals. Together, we can not only revive the legacy of LISSA but also elevate it to new heights. Let's embark on this journey together and shape a future that reflects our collective vision and values.

I am looking forward to meeting with you and hearing your ideas.

Sincerely,
Adele Chase
2023-2024 LISSA President
