The Savannah Book Festival is being held on Saturday, February 7, 2009. They need volunteers to help at the different venues and the information desk with shifts available all day from 8am to 5pm. ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE GEORGIA LIBRARY ASSOCIATION'S SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE Please help us spread the word to students in LIS programs or those entering an LIS program about the availability of two (2) scholarships from the Georgia Library Association: The Beard Scholarship ($1,000) The Beard Scholarship of the Georgia Library Association is made possible by friends and colleagues of the late Charles Edward Beard who served libraries and the library profession for almost 40 years with distinction and dedication. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance toward completing a Master's degree in library science for candidates who show strong potential to inspire and motivate their peers in the profession and in professional associations. National Library of Medicine's Associate Fellows Program Webinar

The North American Serials Interest Group (NASIG) is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applicants for the first annual Rose Robischon Scholarship, underwritten by Swets Information Service. Through this scholarship, a serials professional lacking funds for professional travel will be able to afford attendance at the 2009 NASIG Annual Conference to be held in Asheville, North Carolina, June 4-7, 2009. The scholarship is named in honor of Rose Robischon. During her two decades of active service in NASIG, Rose served as member and chair of several NASIG committees and held the elected position of treasurer from 2005 to 2007. NASIG is pleased to offer this scholarship in memory of Rose's many contributions to the library profession and to honor her energy, warmth, and humor. We are looking for volunteers for the 2009 South Carolina Book Festival, scheduled for February 27-March 1, 2009 in Columbia. I am contacting you because you have either generously volunteered your time with us in the past or have expressed interest in volunteering with us.
