Library/Information Studies Student Stipend for Registration Fees for MLA2010

The District of Columbia Area Health Sciences Libraries is offering a stipend for one graduate library/information studies school student to attend the MLA 2010 conference in Washington, DC May 21-26, 2010. The stipend will cover the full conference registration fee at the MLA student rate ($195) plus the MLA student membership fee ($40) for 2010 and a one-year membership in DCAHSL. Transportation, meals and other expenses are the responsibility of the student. Saturday, April 3rd at midnight is the deadline to nominate yourself for a LISSA officer position for the 2010-2011 academic year! Please e-mail Natalie Couch off the listserv ( couchn@email.sc.edu ) with your name, a brief bio of yourself, your area of interest at SLIS, and why you want to be President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer if you wish to run. This bio will help your fellow classmates vote in the upcoming election. Paul Evan Peters Fellowship

Applications due by April 23, 2010 The Paul Evan Peters Fellowship was established to honor and perpetuate the memory of CNI's founding executive director. The fellowship is awarded every two years to a student pursuing graduate studies in librarianship, the information sciences, or a closely related field, who demonstrates intellectual and personal qualities consistent with those of Paul Evan Peters, including: Commitment to use of digital information and advanced technology to enhance scholarship, intellectual productivity and public life; Interest in the civic responsibilities of information professionals and a commitment to democratic values; Positive and creative approach to overcoming personal, technological, and bureaucratic challenges, and Humor, vision, humanity, and imagination.
