December 2007 Graduates,

We are beginning to clear candidates for graduation in December. This

is just a reminder that if you have dropped and added courses which

changed your original Program of Study, you must submit a "Request for

Adjustment in Graduate Program" form as soon as possible. Please go to

this URL to locate the form and print it.

http://www.libsci.sc.edu/program/handbook/AdjustmentForm.pdf . You can

view your courses on VIP to fill the form out if you have forgotten

details.

After you complete the form, you may fax it to our office at

803-777-0457, bring it to 102 Davis or, email it to our office at

slis_student_services@gwm.sc.edu, or mail it to Student Services

Office, 102 Davis College, USC, Columbia, SC 29208.

The Graduate School will not approve student clearance for graduation

without adjustment forms for changes to the original Program of Study.

Spring 2008 Social and Organizational Informatics 778 Seminar in Information Science               This course examines the various needs, uses, and consequences of information in organizational contexts. It offers an introduction to the inter-relationship between information, technology, and social behavior f rom an interdisciplinary perspective. ERMD Student Award

The ERMD Student Award recognizes a student who is especially interested in pursuing a career as an information professional dealing with environment and resource management issues. The award is $500.00, plus a $750 reimbursement award if the student comes to the SLA annual meeting in New Orleans. The student must be enrolled in an ALA accredited master's degree program. This award is meant to promote both current and future involvement in and commitment to the library and information science profession prior to, during, and after the master's program.    To be considered for the award, a student must be an SLA member and write a 300-500 word essay describing his or her interest in the issues facing information professionals in the environment and natural resources fields. Essays should be labeled with the student's name, contact information, and educational institution. Deadline for receiving submissions is March 15, 2010.
