SLIS 748 (Business Information Sources and Services) to be offered Spring Semester

SLIS 748 (Business Information Sources and Services) will be offered

spring semester, on campus, Wednesday, 5:30-7:45, instructor is

Christine Sellers.

Here is the course description: Coverage of the bibliographic and

information systems relevant to contemporary managerial information

needs, with emphasis on the literature of business and finance, and

including statistical materials, literature guides, and investment

services. Specialized problems related to the organization and operation

of business information systems. Practice in question consultation and

database searching will be included.

The course should be added to the Master Schedule by Friday, November

30th.

If you intend to enroll in the course please let me know by Wednesday,

December 5th.

ERMD Student Award

The ERMD Student Award recognizes a student who is especially interested in pursuing a career as an information professional dealing with environment and resource management issues. The award is $500.00, plus a $750 reimbursement award if the student comes to the SLA annual meeting in New Orleans. The student must be enrolled in an ALA accredited master's degree program. This award is meant to promote both current and future involvement in and commitment to the library and information science profession prior to, during, and after the master's program.    To be considered for the award, a student must be an SLA member and write a 300-500 word essay describing his or her interest in the issues facing information professionals in the environment and natural resources fields. Essays should be labeled with the student's name, contact information, and educational institution. Deadline for receiving submissions is March 15, 2010.
